Project Title: | A Study of Social Engagement of Contemporary American Buddhists |
Abstract of Project : | |
"Socially Engaged Buddhism" is a contemporary movement of Buddhists, most actively held and discussed in the U.S., in which insights gained from Buddhist spiritual practices and teachings are employed to eliminate suffering and to make a significant contribution to peace. Several American scholars have worked on the theoretical interpretations of Engaged Buddhism and have named it New Buddhism. My research project will investigate the application of this theory in the U.S. by contemporary American Buddhist Practitioners. |
